And one year since the release of the pro-life film, Unplanned, released in theaters, it’s star Ashley Bratcher is sharing 10 facts from the film.
The actress, 32, took to Instagram to share a few photos from the set, and reflect on the milestone anniversary of the year’s most debated film.

Today marks the 1 year anniversary of @unplannedmovie hitting theaters. What a journey the last year has been. It has been an honor to hear stories from around the world and see the impact this film has had. Thank you all for your support during what has been one of the most challenging experiences of my life, in all the most amazing ways. I’ve learned so much, I’ve grown, and I’m so grateful for every step of the way. Thank you God for it all. Your plan continues to surpass anything I could have planned for myself.

10. We filmed in secret in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
9. We had a prayer team on set full time.
8. The rights to the book were secured years in advance.
7. Unplanned was #4 in the box office opening weekend.
6. Unplanned is one of less than 100 films to receive an A+ CinemaScore. Others include: E.T., Rocky, The Princess Bride, Schindler’s List, The Help, and Frozen.
5. The abortion doctor in the first scene is a real former abortion doctor.
4. The baby in the ultrasound is modeled after a real baby, who is now the youngest credited actor on IMDB, Cash Adams.
3. I found out AFTER starting work on the movie that I was intended to be aborted. My mom got up off the table and walked out of the clinic. I was moments away from death, and I NEVER KNEW.
2. My real mom is in the movie. She places a rose in the fence near the end of the movie.
