“Surprised by Oxford” Film Explores Main Character’s Faith Journey

If you’re looking for a film that will challenge your thinking while exploring a great love story, then “Surprised by Oxford” is just for you.

The drama, based on the memoir by Carolyn Weber, tells the story of one woman’s faith journey as she studies at England’s Oxford University.

Surprised by Oxford saw actress Rose Reid step into the role of main character Caro Drake, an intellectual young woman whose past traumas have caused her to be guarded in her present university life. She would eventually meet fellow American student Kent Weber, and both her faith, feminist beliefs and caution to love will be challenged by this different man.

Director Ryan Whitaker sat down with me to discuss the well-made biopic, which incorporates a good amount of the beloved atheist-turned-Christian apologist, C.S. Lewis.
