They endured an unimaginable situation, but it is their faith in God that is helping them navigate through the heartache.
Country singer Granger Smith and wife Amber took to Youtube to give fans an update on where their life has been since the passing of their son, River Kelly Smith.
The 3-year-old died earlier this month after an accidental drowning accident in his family’s pool, which happened on June 5.
As a Christian, Granger shared some very encouraging words to anyone who has lost a loved one. Instead of questioning God and looking for the reason behind River’s sudden death, he chose to trust God and look for the purpose of it.
“We believe, in our belief, that God gave us River for three years, and that was his mission. I don’t believe that God takes anyone too soon,” said Granger.
“…We are going to constantly serach for the meaning, behind all this. Not the reason. I think the reason is very different than the meaning. I’m not gonna get caught up in the reasons, and I’ll never know. But we’ll find the meaning and the good in this, and the way to spread this message and spread this legacy.”
In the video, Granger detailed the events surrounding his son’s drowning, and spoke of how he and his wife attempted to give him CPR.
“It was actually a night just like this. I was outside, playing with London (their daughter). We were doing gymnastics in the yard, and the boys were playing water gun fight,’ be began.
“And I remember thinking, I was looking at London as she was doing gymnastics, and I thought, ‘Soak up this moment.’ I just had this thought. ‘Soak up this moment because it’s not gonna last forever.'”
“Somewhere between 30 seconds and 3 minutes, we don’t know, Amber and I are inside our pool gate doing CPR on our son.”
The country singer and his wife Amber confirmed to his fans that they are staying “fully committed.”
“We’re committed to each other, our family, our kids, and our faith,” the couple pointed out.

In April, the Dallas native debuted his music video for his song, “Heaven Bound Balloons,” which saw his family and friends writing messages to those they’ve lost.
“We wrote ‘We miss you and we love you’
Told ’em things are great down here
We spelled it out and sent it up
And we watched it disappear
Sometimes I guess you gotta see it to believe it
‘Cause right then I knew those blue sky prayers were getting through
When we let go of those heaven bound balloons”
Please pray for Granger, his wife, their children and their family and friends. Ask for God’s comfort, peace and encouragement for all during this time.
As believers, we have hope in an eternity with Christ after death. We know that River is experiencing a peace and joy with Jesus like never before. Granger knows that just as much.
And their reunion will be glorious.
