“Drop…Being the Victim!” Alexa PenaVega & husband Carlos Talk Life Before Christ & New Children’s Book

She became a household name as Carmen Cortez in Spy Kids, and he, as Carlos Garcia on Nickelodeon’s Big Time Rush.

Alexa and Carlos PenaVega enjoyed the fame, fortune and access to what the world pushes, such as parties, sex, and alcohol – but it still wasn’t enough.

The duo, who are parents to Ocean, 5, Kingston, 3 and Rio, 1, recently sat down with me to discuss their new, animated children’s book, Ocean’s World. We talked about their inspiration behind the book, (hint, it has to do with their eldest son and his two siblings) as well as the family’s sweet nighttime routine.

During our chat, we also discussed their love and redemption story, which they shared in detail in their book, What if Love is the Point? .

Carlos comes from a Catholic background, while Alexa attended church since she was a young. But a prior divorce for Alexa and pull to the world for Carlos led both to live a self-pleasing lifestyle. For Carlos, it took hitting “rock bottom” as he said it, to realize he had enough of the way he was living and wanted something different. For both, it took a Muslim-turned-Christian friend, Andrew, to not only introduce the two to each other, but to re-introduce both to Christ.
