Aladdin’s Naomi Scott is a bold Christian, Says it’s “Just a Part of Who I Am”

She may play a Disney princess in Aladdin, but she’s already a daughter of the King.

British actress Naomi Scott will star as Princess Jasmine in the live-action remake of Aladdin later this month. And while roles come and go, she stands solid in her Christian faith. Naomi has a heart for missions, and recently visited Rwanda through Compassion International, as well as Ethiopia with her church, also through the organization.

In an interview with the ministry, the married 26-year-old spoke out about her Christian faith, noting that ‘it’s just part of” who she is.

The half-English, half-Indian beauty is a preacher’s kid, as her parents pastor the Bridge church in North East London. (To find out eight facts of the star’s Christian faith, watch the video above!)

“My husband and I were actually talking about this yesterday. Sometimes we get asked the question, ‘How do you juggle your faith and what you do?’ But for me, I don’t know how I would do life without my faith.

That peace that you know you’re loved and valued is something that keeps me incredibly grounded, incredibly focused. Quite honestly, I don’t see it as this separate thing, this add on thing. My faith is just a part of who I am and what I do.”

Naomi Scott as Elena Houghlin in Charlie’s Angels

The actress, who’s set to star alongside Kristen Stewart and Elizabeth Banks in the new Charlie’s Angels film, says she’s moved by “God’s grace.”

“Life is incredibly exciting at the moment, there’s a lot going on. We just think wow. God’s grace.

But no matter what happens, no matter what somebody says about me on Twitter, whatever the future holds, to know that that doesn’t define me is incredible. To know that doesn’t inform my identity in any way shape or form (although it’s easier said than done sometimes). That’s going to be the thing keeping me going. Keeping the main thing, the main thing throughout.”

Aladdin will hit theaters on Friday. But eager fans can pick up the film’s album on Wednesday, when it goes on sale.

Naomi’s voice is killer, as is evident from the clip of her singing the iconic song, “A Whole New World,” in the film’s trailer.

    Brittany,

Nicely done. Being in the media I’m not big on the typical celebrity gossip columnists/Youtubers. However, your take on Naomi Scott was insightful and refreshing. Thank you,.

Naomi Scott sounds like the fashion designer (character) in my trilogy of “Alexa Silven Novels” who defies the evil blackmailer attempting to control and destroy her and finds her way back to the God of her youth, her heart, her salvation. I would gladly send Naomi the trilogy, no strings attached, if she’ll go to my website, read the synopses about the books and contact me through cb@cbhoffmann.com. I am a Christian and retired English teacher so you’ll find no cussing, cursing, sex, alcohol or drugs in my stories….just plenty of true love, repentance, forgiveness, and reconciliation as father-daughter relationships are also paramount.
